I conceive the mission of the photographer as the creator of moments, of personal stories, without the greatest transcendence, not for having been fortuitously at the right moment, but for having caused the scenes to happen naturally, without invading the existence of others. How? Well I would not say that easily, but I do believe that it should be without forcing anything: only with the mere action that provokes the one who observes from the silence, without interfering, just looking.

It is observed requesting the complicity of the observed to finally get the observer to become observed again through his work. No, it is not a misleading and twisted wordplay, it is rather a virtuous circle in which everyone participates from the beginning, putting emotions in harmony. Under the silent direction of the photographer who, without bending his will, is able to direct people to interpret nothing more than their own essence and become actors of their authenticity, which draw from themselves the expression of deep feelings.

The behavioral sequence applied by the photographer, already assumed as an unconscious knowledge, provokes, and then captures, choosing exactly the precise moment in which everything is as real as invented for the taking. Then, when everything is already in its right moment, the photographer, who has acquired technical mastery and then forget all that he has learned, only applies his creativity governed by a single moral norm: that everything happens really.

Then, the work that was born of the observation will be observed again by the others, with the attention put in recognizing in her that the only thing that was true was the desire to tell a story that in the eyes of anyone will have its greatest virtue in its sincerity. What nobody should appreciate in the image is that if there had not been someone watching, that would never have happened.

This exhibition, produced by the Ethnological Museum of Montseny, was born from the editorial project promoted by the Argentine photographer, Mariano Labrador, who, with the title Portraits of the Montseny - Physiognomy of the Earth, makes a tour of the Montseny with the help of its protagonists, A hundred men and women: people of authentic ruralidat, anonymous exponents of a traditional ancestral culture and a manifestation of the human roots of the emblematic "montsenyenca" geography.

A Portraits of Montseny the axis of the expository speech are the people, converted into anonymous witnesses, protagonists of a land with its own imprint, the Montseny. The exhibition presents a selection of a quarantine of images, some of them of great format, that seek to transmit the living legacy of the ancestral patrimony between the human being and the earth. A photographic work that explains the author himself, drinks from the photographic influences of Richard Avedon or Humberto Rivas. Thus, the visitor will discover the look, the faces, the serenity, the gesture, the passage of time ... through a photographic work that despite appearances transmits a great vitality and extraordinary humanity. As a counterpoint to the image, the exhibition is accompanied by an audiovisual production based on a selection of interviews with some of the protagonists of this project, where they tell us about their experiences and experiences.

Life in the Omo river valley (Ethiopia) AFRICA

Despite the time spent since the first expeditions (Vittorio Bottego - 1896), touring the Omo area today is not a simple task. To know the different ethnic groups scattered in an extent comparable to Switzerland, and whose tiny and dusty settlements often do not even appear on maps. Accompanied by a local guide and arm yourself with a good dose of patience as it is easy to get lost on a dirt track that in dry season hardly distinguish and in rainy season they become impracticable mudslides and predict that some of these tribes are not so Friendly as we would like. But if hard are the days for these lands will not be less the regression in the time that we will experience when we are face to face with some of these towns. They are cultures that in other places of the planet cease to exist thousands of years and whose way of Life is closer to the Stone Age than modern modern technologies.

Some 200,000 individuals from 18 different ethnic groups (tsemay, benna, ari, bashada, mursi, bodi, hamer, karo, arbore, surma, nyangatom, bume, dassanetch or galep) from the approximately 45 inhabiting the Ethiopian southwest . Many of them are semi-nomads currently living in grazing and agriculture, since hunting has greatly diminished, in addition to being currently regulated by the regulations of the National Parks of Omo and Mago, each occupying a margin of Which divides and delimits them.

To observe these tribes in their natural surroundings is an unforgettable and unique experience, an amalgam of new sensations, and one of the most singular and incredible spectacles that we can imagine, but it is to be feared that the ancestral customs of these people, their way of life And behave, their rudimentary utensils, their social organization, etc. Are tragically disappearing excessively fast. A journey into the past that will not be possible in the near future.

'Northern lights' by Eduard Mendoza

... Trying to capture the best lights and shadows traveling the planet can become a magical dream ...

Northern Lights

Why this name? There are twenty-two images captured above the Arctic Circle between November and March of the last three years. Due to the position of longitude and latitude of the place where the Arctic Circle is, we have a maximum inclination of the Sun with respect to the horizon of little more than four and a half degrees to the month of November. There are places that in December practically all day is night for a month. In the month of March we do not have much more than fifteen degrees. What does this mean? For to be easily understood, it means that there is a sweet light throughout the day similar to that we can have any day from fall to the very first hour in our area. ... IS OF DREAM ...

With this small sample of images I would like to convey what I feel when I am behind the camera: moments or moments in time almost unrepeatable, the beauty and peace of the area, the noise of the ice when it breaks with the movement of the Water ice, the mist of the air, ... Moments of inspiration that makes you enjoy long moments of some of the best lights and shadows on the planet.

Now, when the sun leaves us and the moon leaves, the night slowly goes towards the closed night is when the magic appears. The NORTHERN LIGHTS, aurora borealis. Mother Nature gives us a whole dance of shapes and colors in the sky. For me it is an indescribable experience where any word or adjective is small in the face of this great natural phenomenon that some of us have had the privilege of being able to observe.

But it is not always easy to see these aurora borealis since a lot of factors have to be conjugated: good weather forecast, solar activity, intensity KP (indicator of the force with which they will be seen), plasma density, speed, little pollution Llumínica, orientation where you see the first forms and get to withstand low temperatures while we wait.

Behind these images I would like to explain that there is a very careful planning of almost from one year to another to try to find the best lights, the best position and maximum angle of inclination of the sun, the appropriate lunar phase by photography auroras, ...

'A poc a poc oblit' by Manel Úbeda

Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h

The place of another being. The place of the lifeless lives, of the stone offered in memory of the names. The light writes thoughtlessness: before the tombstone, the mausoleum, the statue, the altar. Opaque mirrors. And the dead flowers are trying to be an eternal offering. The soul winged, motionless. Time, like the oracle that does not see, has dried under the shroud ..

But time, precisely, to the place where there is no time, saves that stone because the names come back to life and the body can be touched; The time that is reborn and diffused through the corners of existence. A time that models the movement of the instants without leaving signs, without hurting the eternity of a present that, like the bird that does of ivy in the space, does not want to be a spent memory - the memory shrouded by the poems of the forgetfulness.

Slow forgetting is another, of mortaja: the one that involves a primordial poetry.

'Aufhebung Project' by Alfonso Legaz

April 1st to 23rd
Place: Sala polivalent Fàbrica Llobet
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h
Free access

"Aufhebung is a German term of contradictory meaning which literally means to suppress and conserve. In it the philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel based a part of his Dialectic with which to explain the processual dynamics of history. The Aufhebung is an ideal dynamic around as a historical fact tries to suppress the precedent and how, in the vein, it is suppressed by that which follows. But suppress without being eliminated, getting a better fed synthesis of the two. Thus, the Aufhebung suppresses the immediacy of the two instants but enriches them, elevates them and gets them assumed by history. Aufhebung Project proposes a museum and an existing work of art as thesis-past; A person as the antithesis-present that escapes; And the photographic portrait as a synthesis that assumes both giving rise to new dialogues present and future. The portrait thus becomes the singular in an object made of problematic relations between Institution, Art and Society.

Theodor W. Adorno offered a theoretical framework around 1960 because, since then, the artist could pose the consequences of the great excess of people excluded from art through social barriers, creating an irrelevant art in a society that barely tolerates it. Thus, in Adorno's words, "indifference signals: the disturbing sensation that this art could be so different as not to exist at all." Participants include office workers, housewives, students, retirees, immigrants, long-term unemployed, police officers, taxi drivers, circus acrobats or professional athletes with little or no contact with museums. Sometimes they are people who never enter a museum, live or work in the vicinity of the institution, and who have only come to be portrayed in the space that the society intended to exhibit a work of art, the existence of Which they ignore and for which they offer their indifference.

Aufhebung Project has been awarded the Photography Prize 2016, XLVII Prize City of Alcalá.

'Waterworld' by Xose Casal

April 1st to 23rd
Place: Sala polivalent Fàbrica Llobet
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h

Waterwolrd is my personal approach to long exposure photography, where I seek a dialogue between the real and the unreal, with objects easily recognizable, a product of human activity, and situated in a dreamy environment.

The aquatic environment has always given me a special fascination, as much for its condition of primary and vital means, as for the aesthetic that transfers to the images of long exhibition, conferring them an ethereal character.

Simple compositions, without distractions, looking for a clear and direct visual reading, inciting to surprise while in contemplation paused.

Waterworld is an exercise in photographic solitude, of murmurs and silences.

The series was held between 2013-2016, with photographs awarded in more than 40 national and international competitions, among which we can highlight: Asisafoto, La Avutarda, Joaquin Gil Marraco, Concha D'plata, Vila de Ibi, Torretas Trophy, Quillat, Lora de Rio, Sant Just Desvern, etc.

'Fotografia Vs Alzheimer' by Jordi Gallego

April 1st to 23rd
Place: Sala polivalent Fàbrica Llobet
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h
Free access

I've been caring for a sick Alzheimer's patient for the past two years or so (grade 4). After a few chaotic months: doctors, social workers, psychologists (for the sick person and the caregiver), neurologist, tacs, etc. I had the idea of doing a photo session so that "myself" could distract me a bit ..., and it was a success. The surprise was mine when I could see that in addition to serving me to distract me, she also served to enjoy the photo shoot and have a good time.

So photography, in my case has become a good therapy for me, the caregiver, as for the sick person. Obviously photography does not cure Alzheimer's, just as music does not cure it, but studies have recently shown that music is a very effective therapy to bring up feelings lost in the depth of the mind.

If so, why can not photography give the same results as therapy? With photography I get physical exercise, walk, raise my arms, move my head, ... With photography I think, smile, make faces angry, over-act, ... And Most importantly, with photography I get her to feel the protagonist, who still feels useful. This is the fundamental, because that way she stops sitting without doing anything but thinking about what is happening to her, sinking deeper and deeper into the deep chaos of her deteriorating brain.

In order not to do a day-to-day report of an Alzheimer's patient, I present the works grouped in collections of three photographs. Making small stories always with the same protagonist: Lolita ... my mother of 88 years.

'Tritones y fugas' by Pio Gerendain

Stones

Pío remembers that from the age of five, after the Sanfermines, he went with his family to Zarauz, and since then he has not ceased to do so, nor has he ceased to be amazed, both in Zarauz and in Zumaya, of the landscape created by the Rocks that on the coast receive the constant push of water.

Why is it that such a varied and beautiful landscape of the Basque coast Pío only shows us that line of suture that is the flysch, the stones of the cliffs and the blocks detached in that land border between the land and the sea? It seems evident that he does not want to indulge only in the beauty of those places and that his purpose has more to do with an essential feeling: he wants to fix the presence of time that barely perceptible happens by modifying everything and is present in the fallen rocks, in The cracks that the water filled or the stones polished by the incessant rolling.

His photographs are images captured when the light clearly draws the reliefs, when roughness and roughness can be felt, photographs of boulders that have arranged momentarily or have been there for years and that performs in black and white so that they do not lose intensity or drama . It is easy to suppose that someone who has spent all his life with machines of all formats accompanying him has thousands of photos of Pamplona, his people, the Sanfermines and the hundreds of cities and landscapes traveled but at the moment he wants to stop and count alone What is necessary, wants to portray that beloved landscape that speaks of his childhood and his future, a geological landscape that he wanted eternal.

These portraits are part of the project "365 Days 365 Interviews". During 2012, journalist Oriol Rodriguez and I published a daily interview on a blog. The protagonists were people from all professional, cultural and social backgrounds. It was a unique and unrepeatable experience. Every day a new place, squares, bars, streets and occasionally at the interviewee's house or at his place of work. The most important thing was to listen to the interview; I allowed myself to unconsciously take the inside of the person, to become unfamiliar, to gain confidence with one another .... You are a meter away, the camera in hand - inspire ... relax - I say, it is intimidating. The "session" lasts at most five minutes, the helper has no time to impose .... there is a spontaneous sincerity, an involuntary complicity between the subject and me that is difficult to explain. Solitude makes him more vulnerable and at the same time more sincere, naked.

As a photographer, I try to capture the beauty, the fragility and the ephemeral nature through photography. Raise awareness with respect and care of the fauna, so that not one of the greatest treasures we have disappears.

Photographing the fauna in its total freedom helps me to look for details that the human eye can not grasp. In many occasions by the very speed that happen the facts. Special moments, expressions, actions ... that is what I have tried to reflect in this exhibition.

SmokeAliens comes from experimenting with imagination, from free observation of the environment, from playing to reinterpreting. Starting from simple traces of incense smoke, I went through the complexity of mixing them, letting them melt, sliding layers of color between them and seeing what happens then, letting feelings and visions emerge that come from the depths of my mind to Bring us a universe of strange beings: smokeAliens, unconscious, fun and risky at the same time.

The resulting work seeks to merge with the viewer, with what he sees and feels, with what he explores of himself reinterpreting each of the images I propose in smokeAliens.

The experience of seeing Smoke is individual and unique.

Enjoy, let your imagination fly and share with me also what they suggest to you.

As if it were a minimalist scenario, these images are presented to us. As a reflection where time and memory inhabit. Where magic becomes everyday, and where the unreal becomes the nature of life. Loaded with a powerful narrative, and exempt from these varnishes so in use today, Manichaeans, easy and superfluous, we propose instead a reflection to some worlds built from the outside, but at the same time close.

This work is not the product of an initiatory journey, and not even that of a collector of images. This beautiful project is a commitment and proposal of life, sincerity and truth, made by one who is undoubtedly one of the great national photographers in this genre.

'La Poètica del Objectes' / 'Calella és Hollywood'. Institut Euclides

April 1st to 23rd
Place: Sala polivalent Fàbrica Llobet
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h
Free access

The Euclid Institute presents two proposals for photographic creation based on photographic creation strategies such as the decontextualisation of objects or people:

THE POETICS OF THE OBJECTS is a photographic proposal made by the students of 2n of Artistic Bachillerato to the subject of Audiovisual Culture.

In these exercises students had to explore the evocative possibilities of objects, their most symbolic dimension. In this proposal the protagonists of the photographs are the everyday objects changing their meaning through retouching or decontextualisation. With this manipulation of parts of objects or context, their meanings are revised to discover a surreal world, thus creating a visual poetry where nothing is what it seems.

CALELLA ES HOLLYWOOD is a photographic proposal realized by the students of 1º of Artistic Bachillerato in the matter of Audiovisual Culture.

In this work the students have worked the possibilities of the manipulation of reality through digital photography to create stories almost real, or at least, totally possible and provoking surprised the public with the credibility that the media and society in general give to the photograph. Here the students play through the manipulation of reality by intervening in a surprising way in the content of the image.

'Dark tourism? / Turisme obscur?' by Manel Clemente

Place: Sala polivalent Fàbrica Llobet
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 17 to 21.30 h., weekends and holidays 11 to 14 h. and 17 to 21.30 h

The photographic project Dark tourism? / Turisme obscur? Presents a selection of spaces of great historical interest marked by death and tragedy.

Manel Clemente, who has already worked on his previous projects Ghost Towns and Forgotten Ruins the theme of abandonment and desolation, now proposes to document and analyze the interest currently aroused by some places that although they flee from the standards of the conventional tourist industry Receive thousands of visitors each year.

The visit to places linked to death, genocide, tragedy ... considered by some authors as a contemporary phenomenon and even as a fashion is by no means a new phenomenon. And the different concerns that encourage contemporary tourists to visit these desolate spaces are not new either. Historical memory and responsible denunciation can thus coexist and / or compete with morbid curiosity or taste for horror.

Manel Clemente, however, introduces a question to the title of the exhibition. For him to visit some of these places, far from immersing him in the dark, has approached a clairvoyant hope, both responsible and demanding, that will help us as human beings not to commit the absurd mistakes of the past.

On top of the world surrounded by the highest mountains, in one of the most impressive places I have known in my travels, and which has long been a place almost inaccessible, has developed an impressive culture based on the Buddhist religion, And respect for life. And in conditions of extreme climatic and social harshness, people of great human quality survive, a culture condemned to disappear devoured by globalization that does not understand the smell of incense, or the light of candles that illuminate their temples, images of buddha before Who kneel and drag in their prayers, after a long pilgrimage to their sacred places, through turquoise blue lakes that reflect the clouds that cover the great peaks of the Himalayas with their tops crowned by the snows.

In this impressive environment, try to capture the way of life of the people of Tibet, especially through the portrait of their people with a face tanned by the harshness of their existence, difficult work in such a short time, perhaps they are right in To reincarnation and it takes several lives to know Tibet.

A reflection on the emotional bond we can have with objects that have been important at some point in our life. When we have to leave our house to go to a residential center, we leave behind a multitude of objects and memories that have accompanied us and we only take the essential. If we take anything, it will probably have been relevant in our lives.

The portraits have been made during the years 2013-2016 in collaboration with the residence Allegra-Vitamagna and three Complex of Gent Gran, municipal, of Sabadell. Each image is accompanied by a small vital story, often filled with emotions.

It has been a participatory project that has allowed us to share and revalue anonymous people who have generously offered us human and universal experiences of love, fighting ability, perseverance, joy, sadness, pain ...

The exhibition shows the images, the end result of a process. For us, as much or more than the final result, what has marked us has been the way we have done, the luck of being able to share a few moments of their lives and share them with all participants.

That of the Festimatge, would not be a complete exposition if the representative images of the partners of our entity were missing. In addition to organizing photographic and cinematographic activities, FFC also has fans who, from month to month, from October to May, participate with one of their works at the Photo Competition, a social competition created to keep alive the creative spirit and to overcome the photographic section of the entity.

This exhibition is not an exhibition thought and worked on a specific subject, but a spontaneous proposal sheltered by the social League. Thus, we can not seek any reflection, it is only trying something even more difficult: the individual connection between author and viewer.
